Our mission is to support your journey toward recovery, independence, and full participation in community life. We help remove barriers so you can live the life you choose—with dignity, purpose, and connection.

No one will be denied access to services due to an inability to pay. Our fee schedule can be found here.  We also have a discounted/sliding fee schedule available here.

What to Expect

Upon calling to access services, you will meet with someone and talk about what you’ve been experiencing and what type of assistance you are seeking.

Once you're found eligible for services, your path begins with a person-centered planning process that puts you in control of your care.

With guidance from a case manager, you’ll create a personalized treatment plan called an individual plan of services – or an IPOS – that reflects your goals, needs, and preferences. You can include a trusted spokesperson in this process if you wish. Your treatment plan is flexible and can be updated at any time to reflect your growth, changes, or new goals.

Services are customized for you to help you meet your goals. You have the right to:

  • Choose your support staff within available resources
  • Hire your own support staff (with the option of using a Fiscal Intermediary to help manage your allocated budget)

Practice Guidelines

CWN follows the Northern Michigan Regional Entity's Practice Guidelines which can be found on the NMRE website.

Individuals may also self-identify as being in crisis.

Crisis services may include:

  • Immediate crisis intervention
  • Intensive Crisis Stabilization
  • Mental health screening and assessment
  • Referral and linkage to ongoing care
  • Crisis therapy
  • Risk Assessment and Safety planning
  • Crisis Residential Services
  • Inpatient Services

Daytime Crisis Services are available Monday – Friday, 8:00 am through 5:00 pm and can be access by:

After-Hours and Night Crisis services are available weekdays after 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 a.m., weekends, and holidays by calling 877-398-2013 or presenting at a local emergency department.

The following services are available to individuals who meet eligibility criteria for a person with a serious mental illness, severe emotional disturbance, and/or an intellectual or developmental disability:

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)

ACT provides basic services and supports essential for people with serious mental illness to maintain independence in the community. An ACT team will provide mental health therapy and help with medications.  The team may also help access community resources and support needed to maintain wellness and participate in social, educational and vocational activities.

Behavior Management

If a person’s illness or disability involves behaviors that they or others who work with them want to change, their plan of services may include a plan that talks about the behavior.  This plan is often called a “behavior management plan.”  The behavior management plan is developed during person-centered planning and then is approved and reviewed regularly by a team of specialists to make sure that it is effective and dignified and continues to meet the person’s needs.

Community Supports and Services

Community Supports and Services vary depending on the needs of the individual.

Community Living Supports (CLS) are activities provided by paid staff that help adults, with either serious mental illness or developmental disabilities participate actively in the community.  CLS may also help families who have children with special needs (such as developmental disabilities or serious emotional disturbance).

Personal care in specialized residential settings assists an adult with mental illness or developmental disabilities with activities of daily living, self-care and basic needs, while they are living in a specialized residential setting in the community.

Skill-building is used to increase economic self-sufficiency, prepare for work or work training and/or engage in meaningful activities such as school, work, and/or volunteering. Skill building assistance may be provided in the client’s residence or in the community.

Mental Health Therapy and Counseling

Mental health therapy includes therapy or counseling designed to help improve functioning and relationships with other people.

Psychiatric Medication Services

Psychiatric Medication Services may include evaluation by a psychiatrist, medication administration including giving an injection, or an oral medication if necessary, and ongoing review and monitoring of psychiatric medication use.

Peer Delivered Services

Peer support specialists engage in activities designed to help persons with serious mental illness in their individual recovery journey and are provided by individuals who are in recovery from serious mental illness. Peer-delivered services such as drop-in centers are entirely run by consumers of mental health services. CWN partners with the Manistee Friendship Society in Manistee and the Benzie Friends Drop-In in Benzonia to offer drop-in center services. Drop-ins offer help with food, clothing, socialization, housing, and support to begin or maintain mental health treatment.

School Services

School services are available in a number of Benzie and Manistee County schools. Parents or guardians should ask their student’s teacher if Safenet, 31N or other counseling services are available in their school.

Specialty Services

Specialty Services are available to individuals who meet qualifications for a Michigan Medicaid Waiver. Specialty Services include Assistive Technology, Enhanced Pharmacy, Environmental Modifications, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech Therapy.
